WHAT WILL HELP ME LOOSE THE MOST WEIGHT?
All plans are much the same, it really depends on whether you stick to the plan, if you do this then you can expect great results.
WILL MY WEIGHT LOSS LAST?
As with any diet once you have finished and reintroduced carbohydrates into your lifestyle then yes it is normal to gain a little. While on the VLCD plan your carbohydrate intake will be usually be between 45 -75g per day and this is what causes the body to go in to a state of ketosis. Your body will realize this and start to dip in to your glycogen to use as its main fuel source so as stated above when you increase your carbohydrate intake this will result in some small weight gain.
CAN I STILL DRINK MY NO ADDED SUGAR CORDIAL?
No is the simple answer, as these products don’t contain sugar they do have a natural sugar and these will increase your carbohydrate levels and pull you out of your ketosis state.
CAN I DRINK THE OCCASIONAL GLASS OF WINE?
No this is not advisable and can be considered quite dangerous while your body is in the ketosis state.
CAN I EAT SUGAR FREE SWEETS?
No these will contain carbohydrates and will interfere with the ketosis diet.
About chewing gum, we don’t advise as the most has citric ingredients. But if you can’t live without it, break one unit in 2 or 3 parts and limit yourself to one a day.
WHY DO YOU SUGGEST JUST ONE BAR PER DAY?
The bars are quite thick and we don’t want to get you used to a diet of bars only, plus one acts as a treat.
HOW MUCH WATER WILL I NEED TO DRINK?
Its imperative that you consume 2-3 litres per day, if your are also exercising then increase to water to counter what you loose while exercising.
IS THIS DIET SUITABLE FOR VEGERTARIANS?
Yes everything we sell is suitable
I HAVE DIABETES CAN I USE THIS DIET?
If on type 1 diabetes then we suggest you check with your doctor so as not to interfere with your medication, if your type 2 then providing your not on
medication then it can be suitable as long as you keep an eye on it and regular checks with your doctor.
CAN I TAKE IF I’M LACTOSE INTOLERANT?
No we would advise against use if you are lactose intolerant, or have any allergies to wheat, soya or gluten.
People on the VLCD diet between 4-16 weeks can suffer mild side effects including fatigue, constipation, diarrhea and nausea, these are not very common but can occur.
* The most serious side effects recorded are Gallstones and can occur during any rapid weight loss programs.
EXERCISING WHILE ON VLCD.
We would always recommend exercise, but it is important to remember not to force yourself into intense exercise programs. Light to moderate aerobic exercise is recommended and try to keep your MHR (maximum heart rate) between 55-75%, this can be watched by sensors attached to the gym equipment or smart phone apps. We would always advise to check with a doctor before you start any type of exercise.
If you are on any permanent medication then please see your doctor before you start a VLCD diet plan. If you are on temporary medication its advisable to check with your doctor as well.
